About PublicRegistry & Data Sources

Open reference platform for Indian banking, postal, transport, and telecom identifiers.

Our Purpose

PublicRegistry is an independent digital reference utility designed to provide fast, reliable, and accessible information on essential codes used across India. Whether you are looking for an IFSC code to complete an online money transfer, verifying a 6-digit postal PIN code for delivery, locating an RTO vehicle registration office, or searching for an area STD code, PublicRegistry offers a clean, zero-friction experience.

Data Aggregation & Provenance

We aggregate public dataset records published by official Indian government portals and open repository projects. All data is structured, indexed, and static-compiled to ensure sub-millisecond retrieval speeds without server latency.

  • IFSC codes, branches, MICR, payment-mode flags: razorpay/ifsc open dataset (github.com/razorpay/ifsc), compiled from the NEFT and RTGS branch lists published by the Reserve Bank of India and NPCI member lists. The dataset is released into the public domain by its maintainers.
  • PIN codes and post offices: India Post directory published on the Open Government Data (OGD) Platform India, data.gov.in. CONFIRM the licence on the dataset page.
  • RTO codes: Compiled from state transport department / Parivahan listings. ADD the exact source URLs you used.
  • STD and ISD codes: Department of Telecommunications numbering plan and ITU country calling codes. ADD the exact source URLs you used.

Technical Architecture

PublicRegistry is built as a static site generator (SSG) with client-side edge hydration. Our index contains over 300,000 pre-rendered static pages, serving zero-tracking, ultra-fast responses to users worldwide.
